The United States Energy Council (USEC) would like to welcome John Monville to the Board of Directors.
John Monville grew up in Florida and attended the University of Florida graduating with a Civil Engineering Bachelor’s degree in 2006. After several years as a Civil Engineering private consultant, Mr. Monville returned to the University of Florida in 2009.
In 2010 Mr. Monville received his Masters degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Florida. Upon graduating he moved to Alaska, accepting a position above the Arctic Circle as the Alaska Rural Utility Collaborative (ARUC) Regional Utility Manager for the Northwest Arctic Borough (NWAB). ARUC is a division of the Alaskan Native Tribal Health Consortium (ANTHC), and Mr. Monville was responsible for managing roughly $100 million worth of water and wastewater utility facilities and infrastructure in the NWAB. While Mr. Monville was manager there was a decrease in energy consumption of all ARUC villages. Mr. Monville was also responsible for overseeing all maintenance and repair of water and wastewater utilities infrastructure in the NWAB. Mr. Monville was directly involved in the design and construction of new facilities; and the replacement, repair and upgrades of existing facilities. Mr. Monville kept all ARUC utility systems in compliance with state and federal laws, policies, rules, regulations and guidelines. Mr. Monville was instrumental in the successes, and recoveries from failure, of the utilities in the NWAB during his time there.
In 2013 Mr. Monville moved back to Florida to be closer to his family and began working at DMK Associates as a project engineer. John currently works with DMK Associates with local city and county utility providers on utility projects and energy related issues. Since returning to his hometown of Nokomis (in Sarasota County) Florida Mr. Monville has been nominated to sit on the Water and Sewer Advisory Council, and the Stormwater Environmental Utility Advisory Council for Sarasota County.
Mr. Monville has energy related engineering experience ranging across the United States from the Southwest region of Florida to the Northwest Arctic Borough of Alaska.
